Due to the full-scale war, the educational process in Ukraine has undergone significant changes. At the end of the 2022/2023 academic year, the Ministry of Education and Science identified gaps in knowledge among a large number of Ukrainian schoolchildren, especially among families forced to emigrate, relocated due to hostilities, or residing in conflict-affected areas. These gaps arose for various reasons, such as:
• low quality of education in the conflict-affected regions of Ukraine and in areas with active hostilities;
• power supply interruptions;
• disruptions in education due to air raids and rocket attacks;
• the absence of teachers for certain subjects in schools due to evacuation and other circumstances.
The educational recovery course program was launched in June 2023 with the aim of reducing the educational losses of Ukrainian schoolchildren.
Every student, regardless of their location, has a unique opportunity to catch up with the school curriculum by gaining free access to unique educational materials from the "Optima" distance school for 3 months. Participants will also receive all the necessary information on the educational programs for the entire academic year and professional support from “Optima” school teachers.
From July 2023 to April 2024, the Charitable Foundation "Children's Future", with the support of the OutcomesX grant program, was able to help 3806 children restore their school knowledge. The most popular subjects among students are exact sciences. Most often, students chose mathematics, physics, and chemistry. They also made up for knowledge in Ukrainian language, English, Ukrainian history, and computer science.
The charitable program includes:
• initial testing to assess knowledge gaps;
• independent work with interactive educational content;
• support from subject-specific teachers through chat.
The program will continue to operate next academic year. You can apply to participate in the "Recovery of Educational Losses" program on our website.
The initiative to implement the educational recovery program is supported by the “Optima” distance school in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Information about the program can be found on the Ministry's website.
