Charitable scholarship program for children whose parents died in the war

The Charitable Foundation "Children’s Future," in partnership with the distance school "Optima," has established a scholarship program for Ukrainian students since 2022. Over 800 children have received scholarships in the past two years. The program continues, and we are accepting applications for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Due to the ongoing war, many children in Ukraine experience daily stress, but the psychological impact of losing loved ones in the war is immeasurable. Parents are one of the important pillars of a child's psychological world, and losing such support during the extremely challenging wartime period destabilizes the developing individual's psychological state.

Children react differently to the trauma of losing loved ones; some deny the loss, others grieve, and some withdraw into themselves.

How will the program help children?

Although children in Ukraine who have lost parents in the war currently receive state aid, and several funds provide both financial and psychological support, very little attention is given to an equally important area of a child's life: comfortable education.

Since 2022, the Charitable Foundation "Children’s Future" has been financing the education of children who lost their parents in the war at Ukraine's first and largest distance school, "Optima," through the scholarship program.

Why distance education?

Conditions in regular schools can often be stressful for children due to constant interaction with peers, potential conversations about traumatic events, excessive pressure from teachers before exams, etc.

Furthermore, due to the war, in-person schooling is complicated and unstable due to constant alarms and the need to take cover.

However, in the case of losing parents, a child needs stability and certainty in at least one area of life.

Distance education can provide this stability and a lower level of stress for the child, so one of the foundation's projects is to introduce a scholarship program to provide this opportunity for children who have lost parents in the war.

How does the charitable scholarship program work?

The scholarship program involves providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships that cover the full cost of education at "Optima" school for the secondary education program. The foundation's work simplifies the funding process as much as possible and ensures support in the further educational process for the child.

Why "Optima"?

● Individual approach.
The "Optima" education program considers the needs of each child and helps them create a complete educational environment, making the learning process convenient and comfortable, allowing them to work in a convenient format and on an individual schedule.

● Balance of theory and practice.
Besides educational materials, "Optima" offers students preparation for competitions, project activities, subject weeks, and lectures by leading specialists. The balance of practical and theoretical educational materials helps engage the child and shift the focus away from traumatic events.

● Socialization.
Despite the distance learning format, the child is not isolated from society and peers, as "Optima" pays much attention to the socialization of students. This program is presented both offline, with regular meetings, quests, excursions, and workshops held in Ukraine and abroad, and online, where students can communicate with like-minded peers and teachers. This helps to explore the world, develop social skills, and maintain connections even at a distance.

● Accessibility.

Achievements and prospects of the project

During the project implementation period, the Charitable Foundation "Children’s Future" has helped over 800 children who lost their parents in the war to receive funding for education. However, our goal is to not stop there and to help as many such children as possible receive quality education in a comfortable format.

Join our mission: help the project financially or choose a child for personal support.

And if you seek to create the best conditions for coping with the loss and ensure stable and comfortable education for your child but do not have the means to do so, apply for the scholarship.
