Modern students face numerous challenges in their lives. They encounter the demands of teachers and parental expectations, complex tasks and conflicts with peers, along with other everyday problems. If we add learning during times of war to this mix, maintaining psychological balance becomes even more challenging. However, it is crucial to understand that nothing is impossible. Every child can achieve success in both education and emotional resilience. While war may create certain obstacles, it also presents new opportunities for growth and learning.

Ensure Support

Education during times of war requires considerable effort, but support from parents and educators can significantly ease a student's emotional state. Regularly communicate with the child, encourage them to freely express feelings, fears, and problems. Listen attentively, avoid judgment and criticism. Even casual friendly conversations about how the day went can prove to be highly effective.

Collaboratively finding solutions will strengthen the child's confidence and instill a sense of control over the situation. For example, if knowledge gaps have emerged during the war, brainstorm together on how to improve the situation. Perhaps organizing additional consultations with teachers, changing the learning strategy, or independently exploring certain topics may be necessary.

It is also important to consider the individual needs of the child. If they show an interest in art or sports, support those interests. In the context of education during war, the ability to find joy and satisfaction in favorite activities becomes a crucial stress-relief tool.

Ensure Relaxation

Rest should be as essential to a child’s life as education during times of war. Ignoring it poses a risk of emotional burnout, chronic fatigue, and even depression. On the contrary, quality and timely restoration of energy enhance psychological resilience and improve overall well-being. It is crucial to understand that relaxation during war is not a luxury or indulgence; it is a necessity, especially for effective education.

● Establish a clear schedule for relaxation when the child can engage in favorite activities.

● Outdoor activities, sports, and nature walks are excellent ways to relax and recharge with positive energy.

● Encourage children to develop their creative abilities, engage in art, music, reading, or other hobbies that help them relax and express themselves.

● Allocate gadget-free time. Gadgets can be a source of stress and negative emotions.

● Parents should set an example when it comes to relaxation. Take care of your psychological balance and demonstrate to children how to spend time interestingly and beneficially.

Do Not Overemphasize Demands

Education during times of war is already a challenging task, so there's no need to demand high academic achievements from the child. Excessive pressure can be harmful. Remember that children may have different rates of development and learning. Not everyone can grasp the material at the same pace, especially when the conditions for education during war are constantly changing. Try to understand the student's problems and provide support.

● Approach mistakes, poor grades, and any other setbacks calmly. Always support the child regardless of the results. Explain that it's normal not to be perfect in everything.

● Teach the child to solve tasks independently but offer assistance when they ask for it.

● Try to make education during war not just a duty but an interesting and exciting activity.

● Share a few examples from your own life when you overcame difficulties and met expectations despite challenges.

Believe in Victory

Education during times of war is an extremely difficult task for children. They have to solve problems and adapt to changes. However, young Ukrainians have already shown incredible strength and determination. They prove that even in the most challenging circumstances, extraordinary results can be achieved.

Continue helping children maintain faith in a bright future, develop, and continue their education during times of war because knowledge is a force that never loses its importance.
